Wagner builds the Control line for thin coatings like stains and the FLEXiO line for thick house paint. Your mix is thinner than a stain. The Max ships with its flow knob at minimum, has the longest hose (20 ft) so only the light gun is in your hand, and a 1.5 qt cup. Confidence moderate: no one has tested either on fabric dye, and the FLEXiO 4000 at its lowest setting may mist just as fine.

🎛️ Starting settings on the Max (same idea on a FLEXiO Detail nozzle)

  1. Flow knob fully out at minimum. Open a quarter turn at a time until scrap fabric tints evenly with no wet sheen.
  2. Air dial at minimum. On a FLEXiO stay in the bottom third; Wagner's own table puts thin stains at "min to 3".
  3. Widest flat fan, ears turned so the fan is vertical for side-to-side strokes.
  4. 8 inches off the cloth, square to it, moving fast. Trigger on before you reach the cloth, off after you leave it. Overlap half.
  5. Full rehearsal on the offcut before the wall.
